Overview
Canal water carries heavy and lighter mineral particles with abnormal velocity that can damage canal lining by abrasion and impact. Fibre reinforced concrete provides abrasion, impact resistance, improves quality and enhances durability of canal lining.
Canal Lining with Duracrete Fibre
Canal Lining without Duracrete Fibre
Benefits
- Seepage Loss: Irrigation and water supply in unlined canal built in Sindh and Balochistan have shown 30 to 40 % water loss. Fibre reinforced concrete lining can reduce water loss drastically.
- Water Penetration: Fibre reinforced concrete reduces water penetration by up to 62%. Improvement in concrete lining is due to reduction of surface cracks by up to 80 %.
- Scour Resistance: During flash flood, canal water carries high load of sediments and debrie that may cause damage to concrete lining. Fibre reinforce lining can withstand impact up to 14 times and reduce abrasion loss by up to 90%.
